Canvas Care
Sunbrella
All
tops and covers made of Sunbrella should be cleaned only as necessary.
Simply brush off any loose dirt, then clean with a solution of natural
soap and lukewarm water. Do
not use detergents!!
Rinse thoroughly to remove soap and allow to air dry.
In case of excessive dirt or stains, the material
may be soaked briefly in a solution of 1/2 cup of non-chlorine bleach
and 1/4 cup natural soap per gallon of water. Avoid
soaking longer than approximately 20 minutes as this may damage
the stitching in the canvas.
Should the material lose its water repellency,
the manufacturer recommends using 303 Protectant. Use according
to package instructions.
Clear Vinyl
All clear vinyl
curtains should be regularly cleaned with soap and water, then polished
with Pledge Furniture Polish. If the curtains have been exposed
to salt water, hose them down while still hanging on the boat.
This will help to avoid scratches caused by the salt crystals.
Allow to air dry. Do not store curtains wet as this will cause
a milky film to develop. Also, curtains should be rolled or
folded in one direction only. Folding them in multiple directions
will cause creases and distortions to occur.
Snaps and Zippers
To keep snaps functioning
properly, occasionally lubricate with either ChapStick or Vasoline.
This will prevent corrosion which can lead to snaps pulling out
of the canvas. Occasionally apply Pledge Furniture Polish
to zippers to keep them sliding smoothly.
Pledge Furniture Polish also works great on
vinyl seats, dashes and even on fiberglass.
Just a little tender loving care will keep your
canvas functioning properly and looking beautiful for years to come!!!
